Activity Type: Short-term joint staff training events
Starting Period: 10-2020
Country of Venue: Denmark
Event Leading Organisation: Aalborg University
Description: The 1st Learn4Earth Short-term joint staff training event (C1) will be held in October 2020 in Arden, Denmark and be facilitated by the leading partner, Aalborg University. The venue will be Rold Storkro, as it is a venue close to both Aalborg University and Arden School with great meeting facilities, where several of the partners have previously participated in successful meetings of a similar nature. The duration of the 1st Short-term joint staff training event will be 3 working days and will be scheduled in a way to ensure the easiest and most cost-effective travel itinerary for the participating partners.
C1 will function as a kick-off meeting that will include a thorough introduction to the Learn4Earth project by the project leader Anna Marie Fisker and the administration at Aalborg University. This Short-term joint staff training event will be dedicated to de-construct and closely discuss the Learn4Earth objectives, goals and plans for all future Intellectual Outputs, Multiplier Events and Learning/Teaching/Training Activities. This will be done in to ensure a common understanding of the project and secure a detailed overview. The goal of the 1st Learn4Earth Short-term joint staff training event is to discuss, develop and formulate the overall detailed plan and schedule for the project. Furthermore, during this event, all partners will workshop and discuss, and begin the development of the new innovative hands-on activities and approaches that will be implemented, tested and evaluated in the Learn4Earth Intellectual Outputs. Special attention and time will be given to present and discuss Intellectual Output 1 – Learn4Earth Methodology & Approach and Intellectual Output 9 – Learn4Earth Handbook to ensure that the methodological framework and the final output of the project are clear to all participating partners. Furthermore, participating partners will discuss and workshop on how these new innovative hands-on activities and approaches can be best incorporated into the current school curricula, and across different school subjects, considering the different cultural and socio-economic contexts of the partner schools.
Preliminary strategies for dissemination and exploitation of results will have been made by AAU prior to the 1st Learn4Earth Short-term joint staff training event and be discussed during the meeting and subsequently discussed to allow for more detailed plans to be formulated. This will include agreeing upon the specification of realistic targets, a timetable of dissemination activities and milestones, an overview of expected results, and a specification of how monitoring and follow-up will be done. The dissemination activities will be planned to run throughout the entire project. The design and coordination of the Dissemination Plan will be led by Anna Marie Fisker (AAU) in collaboration with Alenka Glavač Geršanov (CHD) but all partners will be tasked with the responsibility of dissemination within their own respective channels, platforms and networks. It is the intention that such plans will be continuously updated, discussed and developed throughout the project duration at all Short-term joint staff training events to ensure optimal dissemination and impact.
The 1st Learn4Earth Short-term joint staff training event will contribute to making the participants comfortable with the newly developed teaching methodologies. Further, it will allow the participating partners to develop a solid collaborative and interdisciplinary foundation for developing the teaching material needed in order to complete the 2 Short-term exchanges of groups of pupils. The form of the short-term joint staff training event will also work as a catalyser for the cross-sectoral collaboration between participants in the involved universities, schools, organisations and practitioners. This is an important aspect since the Learn4Earth project is based on a high degree of such interdisciplinary interaction, which will successfully support the achievement of the project’s innovative objectives. The 1st Learn4Earth Short-term joint staff training event will be based on active participation, where all participating partners will be expected to work positively to develop, present, discuss, and evaluate with their colleagues, resulting in the formation of a dynamic and effective partner group. Hereby, Learn4Earth will also ensure that all participants will gain key competencies and skills as part of their professional development, thereby placing them as agents of change in their respective schools, universities and organisations, and offer them “mobility capital” within Europe and beyond.
The 1st Learn4Earth Short-term joint staff training event will be held in conjunction with a closed Transnational Meeting (M1) to optimize project resources and reduce overall travel costs and environmental impact.
Participants will include at least one person from each of the Learn4Earth partners.
